Swirll was born in 2021 in Napa Valley, California and now raises in France. Our goal is to put together the best parts of both Old World and New World, to bridge the gap between wine producers and wine consumers, and to reconcile the older generations with the millennials. We are deeply convinced that technology and social media have a key role to play in the coming decades to remain both competitive and sustainable in the wine business.
Our
FOUNDER
Marc-Antoine Mathey discovered wine at the age of 20, within the wine club of his university. Several years later, he became the tasting coach and brought his team to the final of Left Bank Bordeaux Cup, an international blind tasting competition, at Chateau Lafite Rothschild in 2018. At 25, after obtaining a Master Degree in finance at Paris Dauphine University and an exchange at Luigi Bocconi University in Milano, he moved to California to work for Moet Hennessy. There he discovered the wine industry in Napa Valley, got WSET3 but also faced the reality of wildfires. Today, he is a WSET4 Candidate and has two goals: to show that everyone can taste a wine, and to make consumers aware that a more sustainable viticulture is essential for our planet.
A few meters away from La Sorbonne and the Pantheon, we develop Swirll from the Quartier Latin and its world-famous Sainte-Geneviève library. Our location is entirely dedicated to research and is ideal to get to the vineyards, in France or abroad. In the near future, we plan to install our team in a new office in Bordeaux.
